Friaul-Julisch Venetien

Friuli-Venezia Giulia is an authentic and varied holiday region in Italy and a year-round travel destination. With Trieste as its capital, it is located in northeast Italy and borders Austria in the north, Slovenia in the east, the Italian Veneto in the west and the Adriatic Sea in the south. The Gulf of Trieste, the Grado lagoon and the long sandy beaches of Lignano Sabbiadoro on the Adriatic coast are just as much a part of Friuli-Venezia Giulia as the karst region on the border with Slovenia, the plain with the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the hilly landscape with the DOC wine-growing areas and the Friulian Dolomites in the north of the region. For families, beach holidaymakers, outdoor sports enthusiasts, connoisseurs, city travelers and those interested in culture, the range is almost endless. The region is characterized by the cultural and historical monuments, which testify to an eventful history and whose influence can still be seen today in the variety of traditions that meet in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Within a few kilometers you can get from Roman Aquileia to the Lombard Cividale del Friuli, or from Udine, which is characterized by Venetian influences, to the Habsburgs in Trieste. The large wine and food tradition and offer is also an important part of the holiday experience in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The “Strada del Vino e dei Sapori”, the Wine and Dine route, enables you to discover the products of this region that are known worldwide and at the same time to relax in the overwhelmingly beautiful nature.
