Kyoto

Kyoto is known as the cradle of Japanese culture and looks back on over 1,000 years of capital city history. Today, travelers can find more than 2,000 temples and shrines, lively historic quarters, magnificent Japanese gardens and a varied Japanese cuisine in Kyoto and its surroundings. Among the main attractions of the city are the Imperial Palace, Kinkaku-ji (“the Golden Temple”), the Fushimi-Inari shrine and the bamboo forest Sagano in Arashiyama. In total, the Japanese city has 15 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, 2 more are located in the surrounding area of Kyoto. Kyoto City Tourism Association is the local tourist office of Kyoto.
